The common denominator of the art works at the exhibition Renaissance Nostra is appropriation – a conceptual strategy quite common in the contemporary art expression nowadays. The title of the exhibition itself discloses that the appropriation focused on those art works created in the most recent years that source the images, motives, compositions and more from the style of the period between the 14th and 17th century – mildly put – sources from the values of the art of the Greek and Roman Antique. Pantha rhei…or everything flows….How does it flow and where?
Renaissance Nostra – whose original idea is based on the fact of the progressive-linear perception of the development of the western art and the fact that art-history phenomena create reflections in the contemporary art production – is one exhibition at two locations. Beside their iconographic level, the two locations are mutually intertwined at the level of conceptual practices of their own contemporary art creations.
